This is my speech for Captaincy of 'The Usual Rejects' ahead of Blood Bowl World Cup 3 i Italy 2015, translated into English for my international friends. Danish Blood Bowl players should read the thread on dbba.dk instead.
As the
World Cup is only held every four years, the objective is of course to have fun,
but when all is said and done, we travel to Italy to roll some dice. Therefore,
our team motto is: "You can have fun while winning!".
My ambition
is basically that the team wins at least 20 games combined and achieves a final
ranking in the top quartile.
Regarding our
choice of teams, it is my ambition that we field 6 of the strongest races at
TV110. However, I definitely think that each of us should play the race we feel
most comfortable with (as per the team's motto) and I am therefore completely open
to people's arguments to play any of the other races.
As far as I
know, the team does not have to be composed entirely of people of Danish
nationality, and therefore it is not my ambition to make it 100% Danish.
Conversely, it is not my ambition to create an international team. It completely
depends on the level of interest.
It is
important for me to point out that registration with the team is NOT done on a
first come, first served basis. I want to field the strongest team possible so
you should be prepared to be refused - even if you are fast off the block, is a
good friend or buys me heaps of Mozart balls. I am well aware that this may
result in someone deselects this team to be sure to participate in WC3 - which
of course is quite understandable.
If you want
to be a member of this team, please inform me no later than June 30th, 2014 at 11:59pm.
As soon as possible thereafter I will set the team and give any rejections so
you can find another team quickly.
When the
team is set, it is my ambition that we meet on at least three separate
occasions. Here we will discuss tactics and skills, play some friendly matches
against each other and generally enhance team spirit with good food and
beverages. But more on this later.
